Odia cultural bonanza
is at its peak at India gate today. Odia people & connoisseur of art of Delhi
flocked together today morning to celebrate 8th Boita Bandana Utsav,
The traditional boat sailing festival of ancient Odisha, organized by Bal
Jagruti Association of Delhi, an association working for downtrodden people
since fifteen years.
The function started with traditional conch
blowing & Veda charting by Hrusikesh Panigrahi to an open & early
November sky of Delhi .The festival which falls on the full moon day of month
of Kartika being commemorated to remind the ancient maritime business of the then
kalinga sadhabas (Kalinga business community), who were supposed to begin their
maritime journey on this auspicious day. Apart from this, the association also
celebrates the “Rasa-Poornima” to observe the eternal dance repertoire of
Goddess Radha & Lord Krishna on this fool moon day, said Mr. Gobardhan Dhal,
the chairmen of Boita bandana Utsav & President of Bal Jagruti Association.
To observe this spiritual fervor traditional Odissi dance was performed on
stage by artists of Sankalp group choreographed by Kasturi pattnaik.which is
followed by Odissi Bhajan by Guru Hari Narayan & party.
Other important event organized by the
Association was well decorated boat sailing, where people sail on the boat to
commemorate the beginning of Sadhaba’s bonvoyage day.
To mark the memorable occasion Vaishnav
Parida,Hon’ble MP,Amarendra Khatua,Suryamani Khuntia,N.K.Sahu,Shreedev
Nanda,Dr.Arun Kumar Ratha,G S Pattnayak ,Prof.Monika Dash,P K Hota,P K
Mohapatra,Tushar Mohapatra were present and participate the festival.
